Ann Curry

Ann Curry is a photojournalist, journalist and author who has been covering conflict zones over the last forty-five years. Her focus is on human suffering as well as disasters. Curry covered wars in Kosovo, Iraq Syria Lebanon Palestine Afghanistan Darfur Congo. Ann Curry was an American journalist, news reporter on TV and host who is best known as a correspondent for the Today program which is a morning-time broadcast news show that aired on NBC. Curry is known for reporting human-rights crises as well as natural disasters and natural disasters, particularly in countries that have been devastated by conflict. Curry's father was a sailor with the U.S. Navy and her mother was Japanese. Following World War II, her parents met during her father's service in Japan. As a result of her father's active military duty, the family travelled often. Curry was a student at the high school in the city of Ashland, Oregon. Her graduation with a journalist diploma at the University of Oregon in 1978. It is possible that her first experiences with different cultures as well as her life experiences influenced the empathetic way she communicates about international issues. Curry did not have the opportunity to go to a single school in Alameda, San Diego Oregon, or Virginia during the two-year period because her family was constantly moving. Finally, she graduated Ashland High School. In Medford where she began her broadcasting career at KTVL Channel 10 as an intern. When she was 22, she was able to become the first reporter to be female at KTVL. Then she was promoted to anchoring and reporting at KGW which is an affiliate of NBC located in Portland. After four years of service, she was appointed an anchor by KCBS TV in Los Angeles. It was during her time with this channel for 6 years that she was awarded two Emmy Awards.
